Great visit, lots of the photos are from Hana. Sadly no photos from the legendary Chicken Beach.

Our old friends Chuck and Beverly came out to visit us for the day back in January of this year. They were on vacation on Oahu, and stopped by to visit and (very kindly) take us out to lunch at Mama’s Fish House.

Wow, what an amazing hike. Two days, twenty miles, great friends. Incredible landscapes, volcanic tundra, fern gardens, fields of yellow poppies, volcanic sand dunes, rain forest.

We pup-sat Doug and Jennifer’s new puppy last weekend, which was fun. Barkley enjoyed the canine company, and Sandy was really cute and well behaved.

They came, they saw, and they got married! Anna used to dance with Becky when they were both kids, so we were super excited they decided to get married on Maui. I took photos during the whale watch trip, the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding. Since they had three professional photographers from Oahu flying in, I stayed out of the way during the actual ceremony, and instead shot the guests. Here are a few of my favorite photos.

Ten minutes into the film, Anna gave me a very dirty look and retreated to the safety of her office. Barkley stayed with me and seemed quite entranced with the entire movie, especially the scenes with the “zombie” dogs.
It would be really easy to rip on this film, but I found myself enjoying it. Will Smith is just so damn likable. Good special effects, good flow, and decent storyline.

Very enjoyable, it reminded me a bit of other indie movies like The Last Kiss and Garden State, just because of the similar feel they had. Quite enjoyable, overall. The two actors from Arrested Development (who pretty play the same characters they play on that show, or else are uni-dimensional actors) are awesome.

I waited to see this movie, saved it for a treat on a rainy day. I have to say I was underwhelmed. The cast is incredible, and even the dialog is witty, but it just didn’t work for me the way The Royal Tenenbaums did. I really, really wanted to love it, but I didn’t.
The only redeeming part of the movie was the Portuguese (Brazilian?) guy playing all the old David Bowie songs throughout the movie.

This movie is extremely entertaining and funny, especially if you have any experience with the zombie genre.

Amusing film. Nothing brilliant, but definitely pretty original.

Brilliant movie. Dark and sparse like most Coen brothers movies, but lovely photography, original writing, kept me on the edge of my seat.
